Frequently Asked Questions

What is Therapy?

Therapy, also referred to as counseling and psychotherapy, is the process of building a relationship with a therapist, identifying goals for treatment, and working to achieve those goals as a team. Therapist can help you to identify behaviors, thoughts, and feelings that may be creating distress and discover helpful ways to process and cope. Therapy can also be an in-depth process, uncovering core issues related to the past that may be causing psychological issues.

What can therapy help with?

Therapy can help with a wide variety of issues including: anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, grief & loss, trauma, personality issues, life transitions, stress, low self-esteem & confidence, and relationship troubles (breakups, divorce, affairs, loneliness, marital problems, arguments, etc).

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! I am paneled with several major insurance networks. If I am unable to accept your insurance, I can create a superbill that you would be able to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If you do not know your co-pay, feel free to send me a message and I can verify your benefits before starting therapy sessions. To learn more about fees and payment, click Here

Is therapy in-person or telehealth?

I provide both in-person and telehealth sessions. My office is located in Knoxville, TN. Telehealth is completed on a HIPAA compliant video platform, which sends you a link before the session begins.

Are you available during a crisis?

I am available during your scheduled time only, unless you have spoken with me otherwise. Resources are available to you during times of emergency. If you are experiencing a psychological emergency, we advise you to contact 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Other resources include mobile crisis (865) 539-2409, the suicide hotline (800) 273-8255, or If you need to speak to someone not related to a crisis, you may call Contact Care Line at (865) 312-7450 to talk to trained volunteers (not mental health service providers).

What is your cancellation policy?

Full service fee will be charged for appointments not cancelled prior to 24-hours of scheduled start time of appointment. Exceptions are made for illness, poor driving conditions and other unavoidable barriers. Please note, if you are using insurance, your cancellation fee will be the amount that insurance reimburses for sessions, not your co-pay.
